Moles

I noticed a mole on the back of my leg maybe a few months ago. Until recently it resembled a mole which I have had previously, I had the mole removed and it was a very rare benign mole. For the last few weeks it has been expectionally itchy and even bleeding occasionally. The mole which I have had removed before did not do this and just stayed very pink and raised. Since I have came back from holiday 3 weeks ago has been when the symptoms I have discribed have started. Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on what they think it might be. I have booked a doctors app but that isn’t until the 9th of August, just I am getting a little bit worried.

  • Hi,

Your photo will be removed by the Moderator as photos aren't allowed in the terms and conditions.

No on on the forum can diagnose I'm afraid - not even the nurses. It's good that you have an appointment with your GP. It is a while to wait so I suggest you ring them and ask if there is a GP at the practice who specialises in dermatology (some practices now have this and they can examine the mole with a dermascope). If yours has such a GP and you are booked to see them that's good. If they don't have one, ask if you can be considered for any cancelled appointment to get seen earlier. Meanwhile, keep this photo and show it to your GP in case your mole changes while you are waiting. If they think it needs further investigation they will refer you to a dermatologist who are the experts.

Hopefully it will be fine. Good luck and please let us know how you get on.
