Hi obmik basically it means they can treat it maby kemo to stop or even shrink it but cannot get rid of it then after so long it grows again and more treatment, I've been non curable over three and a half years still living a normal life, my C is in prostate, lymph nodes, spine, ribs and pelvis and one lung, stage 4 as long as treatment keeps working I keep living, without treatment i would have gone three years ago best wishes.

Hi obmik, this is difficult to answer from a non medical person but we're living with incurable stage 4 lung cancer which is being managed. Our understanding is that they will help manage the symptoms in the best way possible but my husband will never be free of cancer. I'm sure one of our lovely Moderators will pop by and explain a little better. Best wishes, Carol
Thank you so much for your reply.
That is very reassuring. Dad's cancer started years ago in the Oseophgus but he got the all clear in January this year. Only to find it has metastasised to his adominal area, groin, lung and lymph nodes in his chest. He has already had 1 lung removed a few years back (totally different strain of cancer). He sees the consultant in a few weeks to talk possible treatment.
Can I be cheeky and ask what treatment you had to slow or shrink yours? I am not sure dad with go through Chemo for a 3rd time!!
Thanks Carol. I wasn't as his appointment, so didn't have a chance to ask the questions I needed/wanted answers to.
Ask away I started on hormone therapy for life, and docetaxel (cemo) I was supposed to have 10 sessions but they cut it down to 6 I was having bad side effects, it does vary a lot depending on the pacients and treatment, good luck with your dad.

Hi Obmik,
sorry to hear your news :-( . I don't understand how your Dad was given the all clear in Jan and 7 months later it is found to have metastasisted to so many areas. So being given the all clear means nothing then. Hugs for you and your dad xx
