I think I'm going out of my mind since I started Letrozole. As my breast cancer estrogen receptive, I have to be on estrogen blockers. I feel so depressed I just want to kill myself. I am 68 with no quality of life. So what's the point.

Hello Mitzy,
Thank you for sharing your story and I hope you get a little comfort from knowing that you are not alone that so many others on this forum have also experienced similar side effects after taking a drug that doesn't agree with them. [@Kazcoco] has given you some excellent advice - it is worth talking to your consultant about this as Kazcoco has done and seeing whether there are any available alternatives for you to minimize these debilitating side effects. Do mention to your specialist that you have been feeling very low and experienced suicidal thoughts and try to get an urgent appointment if you can so that this is sorted quickly. I am sure your medical team will help you regain your quality of life so even if it is really hard, try and focus on the fact that this will soon be addressed and rectified.
I hope it helps you to know that you are not alone feeling this way and that there are others here who know exactly how you are feeling at the moment. As well as [@Kazcoco] , I noticed that there was another member [@Villette] who posted here just this morning - she was also concerned about Letrozole side effects and mentioned also experiencing anxiety.
If you feel really down at any point and feel the need to talk to someone, the Samaritans helpline is there to listen 24h a day every single day of the year so don't hesitate to give them a call. You can find their contact details on this page.
Your first port of call I think is as Kazcoco suggested your consultant - so do give them a ring as soon as you can and stress that this drug's side effects have become unbearable for you. I hope you manage to speak to your medical team soon about this. We're all here for you whenever you need to talk.
Best wishes,
Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
