Neutropenia

Has anyone else experienced severe neutropenia? My neutrophils are currently 160 (should be 1500 to be normal/ safe) and I’ve already had 5/7 of my GCSF injections.

Is there anything they can do to increase numbers? Will treatment be delayed if they stay that low? Is this low of a count more common than I’m thinking?

Thanks in advance

  • Hi Charlotte,

I completely understand that this post was from a while back but the online team shared this with me due to my ongoing situation.

I currently have severe Neutropenia levels of 0.4 and have had a recent bone marrow test in order to see if this is Leukaemia or somthing else.

I thought I'd reach out and just see if you were happy to chat?

    thanks

    Frankie :)

  • Hi Frankie

yes of course I am.  Do you have your follow up appointment for your bone marrow results ?

  • Thanks Charlotte, much appreciated!

I have it booked for the 14th April then all results for bone marrow should be back.

Hemotology have said If there is anything that is urgent as the results come back bit by bit they will call me in sooner.

I have also recently had spleen ultrasound which showed a slightly enlarged spleen and I had an MRI for some lumps on my head (appear to be normal cysts)

I think the worst thing symptom wise is constant coughs, chest infections, mouth ulcers and thrush.

I don't know if these were ever things that you have seen experienced with severe neutropenia that later progressed to a diagnosis of leukaemia?

    thanks

    Frankie
