Massage for AML patient

Hi,

My sister has AML, just finished her first round of chemo. She put out her back, not badly but it’s stiff from not being able to exercise in her room much. It’s bothering her a little so I’d love to arrange a masseur to go in as a treat but don’t know is she allowed to have a massage?

I can ask a nurse when I visit tomorrow but wondered if anyone here knew the answer?

Thanks

  • Hi Screamqueen

Did you manage to speak to the nurse when you visited yesterday? I hope that they were able to give you some positive news about arranging a lovely treat for your sister.

Lots of cancer wards, day centres and hospices will have complementary therapists who visit to support patients through offering treatment. It's lovely that you'd like to be able to treat your sister. I hope that you're able to arrange something :)

  • Hi,

Thanks for replying. It looks as if she can have a light massage on a day when she’s not having bloods. I’ve found a masseur privately who’d be willing so I’m going to go that route if I can’t find any regular ones at the hospital.

    Thanks again
