Hair going thin

I am just starting my 3rd lot of chemo. My hair has started to go very thin. Was wondering if anybody could give me any advice about having my hair shaved or leave it

  • Hi hel, the choice is yours but as it gets thinner it will look very untidy and there will be hair everywhere, shave or trim and it's tidy hope your enjoying cemo (sorry bad joke) I'm being nosy but how are you with it,. Best wishes.

  • hi

i guess it’s personal choice. I decided to get mine shaved before it fell out as I felt more in control of the situation, rather than having to worry about it thinning and falling out. I wear a wig now been wearing it for about 3 weeks and I’ve got used to it now.

  • Hi itvis thinning. So I think I will have it shaved and wear a bandana. I cant cope with it like this . Did u go totally bald . Sorry to ask x
  • hi it’s fine please ask away. Yes it’s all gone, started coming out a few days before my second cycle and it’s all gone now. I think it might depend on the cocktail of chemo you have , personally I wanted to control at least one thing. My eyebrows are still standing and  I’ve also discovered that I don’t need to shave my armpits either this week!!

  • Hi, I used the cold cap.

But my hair is thinning, so do much it literally just falls out.

I've gone past cycle two and I'm going to have it shaved off tomorrow, I simply cannot put up with the hair loss all the time. Finding hair everywhere is horrible.

Washing, brushing, moving, all means hair drops out!

So got my wig ready and ill be glad to have wig hair that'll not fall out everywhere.

Literally wish I did this from the start.

I thought the cold cap would stop hair loss, well I'm told it saves at least 50%, but losing that other 50% is hell, I hate hair falling out in your face, on your clothes, flying around after a slight gust!

So tomorrow... I'll be happy to be hairless.

Bandana sounds good too mind. I'll order one for when I font want to wear the wig.

Any tips, please. Never been bald before.

  • hi

I went for a hair system that I can sleep and shower in, it’s human hair so I can wash it and style it as well. I have to change the tape that keeps it on once a week. When I do this I moisturise my head and let it soak in.   There’s loads of you tube videos on how to tie scarves etc which are worth a look.   Hope the head shave went ok.
