Lung cancer stage 4

My dad was misdiagnosed with pneumonia 3 years ago and within 2 weeks of telling us he was cancer free we got the dreaded news.  He was given 2 years as the it was inoperable.  He has had three chemos therapy and a radiotherapy course but to no avail. He has now been taken to hospital with acute back pain and is on morphine to help.  We are waiting for an MRI but have been told it could have moved to his spine.  he is looking a lot better on the steroids but am so worried about the outcome of the MRI.  What will it mean for him?

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, Lilley1.

I'm sorry to hear about your dad, this must be a very difficult situation for all of you.

As for the question you asked, I'm afraid I can't give you an answer as I'm not a doctor but I hope that others who have gone through a similar experience with their loved ones with cancer will come along shortly to share their stories with you and give advice. Until then, feel free to reach out to our cancer nurses and ask any question you might have. They're available on this phone number 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Best wishes to you and your dad,
