Zoladex - Weight Gain

Due to high Blood Pressure/ Tablets and 2 weeks on Bicalutamide plus Zoladex implant I have put on over a stone in weight. Has anyone experiences this. If so is it possible to loose weight.

  • Hi only way to lose weight was to stop zoladex. Sorry. Your lucky I put on over 2 stone.

  • Hi BrianP,

Just as Billy says, I also put on about two stone. Allthough I stopped zoladex several years ago now, I have still not mnaged to lose the weight I put on. I just tell my wife their more of me to go around these days.Brian

  • I really can't understand why, I might stop after 3 months

  • Hi BrianP,

I would be guided by your consultant. It certainly helped save my life, Brian

  • Hi, I have been taking Tamoxifen and receiving a Zoladex implant monthly since January 2019. Since that time, I have put on 2 stone 4 pounds! Not happy at all. Keep on mentioning it to my oncologist (due to me having breast cancer), but he doesn’t come up with any answers. He just says there is nothing that can be done. Has anyone else experienced this as I know I cannot lose the weight myself (I’m on a strict diet and exercise regularly with no affect whatsoever!) I actually put on 9 pounds in one week a couple of weeks ago!! Feel all bloated and uncomfortable. Had to buy new wardrobe of clothes! Ridiculous really and so unhappy now... So, I know how you feel. It doesn’t seem like there is anything that can be done about this, or so I’m told. I cannot stop it as it will be detrimental to my outcome. Could you stop your Zoladex at all, as that’s the only way I know you can lose the weight by the seems of it? Good luck...

  • I have been on Zoladex for 3 months now and have also put on over 1 stone

When I first saw my oncologist she mentioned having my overies removed as an option instead of Zoladex. Perhaps this could be an option for you to explore too. Good Luck xx

  • I have been on zoladex and exemestane since Jan 2019, my weight stayed more or less the same through out treatment however I consider it to be heavy.  I want to lose weight but it doesn't seem to shift.  I am more concerned because a recent class about breast cancer said if your BMI is higher than 25 you are more at risk of return so I have been really trying to eat healthy with no change, it's so depressing
