Cool cap

 Hi

Thank you to everyone taking the time to post on here, the help and advice is really useful.

I am going to try the cap on 11th April when I have my first chemo session. I read somewhere it may be beneficial to cut hair shorter to try and avoid the weight of your hair adding to it coming out.

Just wondered if anyone knew about this?

Thanks

  • Hi CJL,

I used the cold cap all the way through my 6 months chemo last year along with Daniel Field Suite Chemo hair products and I have to say I didn’t loose my hair! It went a little thin right at the top of my head and on a bit of my hairline at the back of my hair. Also I never cut my hair shorter as my hair is a shorter style anyway.

I always checked the cap was as tight to my head as they could get it and I could stand it and I’m sure that helped too.

Id recommend taking paracetamol 20-30mins before the cap gets switched on and have some gauze out at the front of the cap just so it’s not so cold on your forehead.

I hope all goes well for you.

  • hi.

I’ve just been diagnosed with breast cancer

today I feel my worlds fallen apart.  I had my

lymph node removed by operation 3 weeks ago

    still recovering

The breast nurse told me to think of a cooling

cap it minimises hair loss. Was it painful on head or  just v cold. I’m dreading January have to have  more scans. Possibly another operation and then chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Did you get the cap from hospital and do you have to rent it out ?

    Thanks. Babita
