Pain after pacitaxol

I had my first taxol chemo Thursday, I was fine with no side effects till Saturday when I had intense pain in my legs and feet, I am still in chronic pain and hardly walking or sleeping, I have called the hospital and was advised ibuprofen there not touching the pain can anyone help please?

  • I'm really sorry about the pain you're experiencing at the moment Lucy.

Hopefully some of our members who have had this course of chemo will be along soon to offer their advice but do get back in touch with the hospital or your G.P/medical team to let them know the ibuprofen isn't working as they should be able to provide you with something stronger that will be more effective at combatting the pain.

    Kind regards,

  • Hello ,

I started a similar taxane in January and after the third cycle in early march experienced major pain in my legs and arms, which is still there. Oncologist surmised that it may be from the cholestral med a Statin (Lipitor) so I discontinued it last tuesday so far not much improvement I take tylenol (paracetemol) every 6 hours it seems to help more than the morphine did.I don't think the docs realize just how bad it is.

    I certainly can empathize.

  • I was due another one today but it's been delay due to still having numbing fingers and to be seen next week and told they soll lower my dose xx
