FEC-t chemo breast cancer

I haven’t been on the forum much lately.

I have advanced breast cancer (5cm, in lymph but nowhere else), had my 3rd fe -t chemotherapy this week. I had my midway MRI on wed.  I’m HER positive,

Yesterday I received a call from my BCN, advising that my Oncologist has decided to change my remaining 3 chemos. The last 3 cycles were meant to Pertuzumab, Herceptin and docetaxel.

I asked my BCN why and she said she didn’t know why, just that it will be changed. She said this happens and it’s nothing to worry about. She said it was being changed to benefit me.

I cannot help think my mid way MRI may be showing no shrinkage.

I find it all rather vague. I’m unsure what questions to ask and whether I should be worried.

I was due to see my consultant surgeon this coming Thursday to discuss surgery but this has now been delayed until the week following my next chemo on 4 April.

Im unsure what to think or feel.  However, I do think if it was really bad news, I’d be called in.

  • Hi Pink,

Im new to this forum, but had my 3rd FEC last Monday. 1st cycle for me was ok, sick for first couple of days then just a foggy head, came round 2nd week, so hopefully you won’t be too bad.

Cycle 2 and 3 not so good.

    Xxx

  • Hi I had my first FEC cycle on the 1st Nov. Only just feeling better, knocked me about this week and my 8 month old having a cold has been hard too.

  • Hi.  I'm the same about feeling as if I need to know more and not wanting to be a nuisance.  I tend to dot down my queries and ask precise questions when I see the nurse or consultant.  I find it easier as I have a PICC line so I need to go every week to have it flushed so I tend to ask any questions while the nurse is doing that.  I do the same during my chemo while being administered by the oncology nurse.  I wouldn't worry about being a nuisance as I think you have a right to know -I think sometimes they don't want to give out too much info as not everyone wants to know.

Good luck - I am due my next FEC-T (3rd FEC) next week and fortunately not feeling too bad -just the extreme fatigue.

  • I have just had my first and second fec - t tomorrow.....fruit tea is good...did not find it too bad just wondering if each session makes you feel worst ?

  • Hello Purple,

I'm new to all this - just deciding whether to have chemo, but finding that the default position seems to be to give as little information as possible. I've spent hours online, finally finding the answers I needed on a a very easy to read American site.

Hope you manage to get some answers to allow you to make the right choices for you. (From what I can see so far, it's mostly about the right/easiest choices for them, but I may just be having a bad experience.) It's difficult enough at the moment with the worry about catching Covid 19 and self-isolating wtihout having to do a lot of chasing about. You must be exhausted.

    All good wishes and blessings
