Hi I had Lumpectomy and Lymphnode removal June 2018 and was put on Letrozole, Ihave just been diagnosed with Arthritis both hands, runs in my family but never had symptoms until recently,worked full time in office work for 38 yrs. took early retirement (PACKAGE)  started a job locally only 16 hours to keep me goin plus company ,tried a few hours recently knocked me for 6 for 2 days too heavy with the insomnia ,pain,feeling down but say i am fine dont't really know how i feel to be honest,sweats are horrendous tried many meds. but to no avail What to do? xx

    Hiya

    My mum is non letrozole she can't sleep very good, she has bad itch rash and ulcers in mouth if you get any of these, take anti histamines helps with her rash, and she take mouthwash for ulcers. She started to get back ache with the tablets as it can affect joints. She just living with it.

    I haven't posted on here but do read threads. I have been on Letrozole since Dec 2017. For the first few months all was great, but then around April 2018, I started getting quite severe joint pain. Spoke to my oncologist who suggested trying glocosamine, as this can help some patients. But they would take a couple of months to work. So I tried them, but joint pain got worse. Some days I would be ok and some days it would be horrendous. 

    I go to a monthly secondaries support group at Maggie's, and a few had mentioned that different brands can cause more side effects than others (I was on Accord). 

    So I spoke to my GP and because of the difference in the prices, and he hadn't heard about different brands causing different side effects, didn't want to prescribe the more expensive Teva brand. So she contacted my breast surgeon, who confirmed that yes side effects can be different between brands, so my GP agreed to request the pharmacist to give me Teva. Which I started on in November. 

    So far my hot flushes have reduced in frequency and severity, my hands no longer seize, but now I have pain in both hips and both knees and my right ankle, whereas on the Accord brand it was just my right hip and knee that were bad. 

    On another forum I'm on (an American FB group) several of the ladies on there are recommended by their oncologists to try taking Claritan, as the antihistamine can have a positive effect. 

    As I already take a different antihistamine I haven't tried this. I am however, seeing my GP again tomorrow to see if she will request another brand.
