Can I delay Radiotherapy- Grade 3 brain tumour

Hi All

I am starting Radiotherapy end of this month for my Grade3 Glioma which was operated in early December.

I am having 6 weeks of Radiotherapy finishing in March.

I'm in dilemma if I can delay this treatment as the tumour was removed completely, all I have is infiltrated cells from the tumour.

I want to wait for a month and do another scan and then take a call if I require the radiotherapy.

Anyone delayed their radiotherapy before and does the Oncology team support our decision and help in future if the treatment is required again.

Thanks

K

  • Hello I_can_beat_this,

I think the best approach in your situation would be to talk to your oncologist about it and see whether they think it would be a problem for you to delay radiotherapy or if on the contrary they believe it would be beneficial for you to start as soon as possible. So I think the best think to do would be to get in touch with them and see what they suggest. They know your treatment plan best and also the effect delaying treatment might have.

I also hope you will meet others here who have faced a similar dilemma and that they will tell you more about the decision they themselves reached.

Our nurses are also available on this free number 0808 800 4040 if you need to talk things through with them. Their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

Keep us updated on what you decide! I hope you have recovered well from the operation.

    Best wishes,
