No. 4

Where do I start. I suppose I have to start by saying that ive been lucky, even though I haven't

My cancer story started in 2011 with skin cancer. I was fortunate enough to have found it early on and an excision ,followed later by a wide excision sorted it out. Then in April 2016 I was diagnosed with a blood cancer. Fast forward to October of the same year and I was diagnosed with kidney cancer. I had my left kidney removed in the December. Shortly before christmas 2018 I had a follow up CT scan ,the first since my nephrectomy in 2016, too long a wait if I'm honest. I then had a pet scan on xmas eve. The result showed a mass on my left renal bed. This week ,after urology have passed me on, I seen a surgeon who told me that the thinking now is that it's in the small bowel mesentry somewhere. The plan apparently is to go in have a "root around " to try and find it. He said if he can cut it out he will, but if he can't he'll cut as much as possible out and then biopsy it to see exactly what it is. The blood cancer doesn't make surgery easy for me as I have to go on oral chemo to reduce my platelets down to a level where the anaesthetist will agree to put me under. I'm at high risk of a stroke on the operating table because of my blood cancer. To say im mortified by all this is an understatement. Open surgery is no fun and takes a long time to recover from as I know. I can't believe the cards ive been dealt in life, but I'm a fighter and will soldier on as I'm only 56 and want to live.
