  • Hi Lucy,

I'm sorry no-one was able to reply to your post before you started your treatment but I hope the first couple of days have been kind to you so far.

Although [@woodworm]‍ had Zoladex as part of his prostate cancer treatment he may be able to give you some tips and advice on how to manage if you start experiencing any side effects. [@Husband2018]‍'s wife is currently having zoladex alongside letrozole so again I'm putting you in touch as he'll be able to let you know how she is getting on and answer any questions you may have.

If you have any further questions or would like to chat to someone in person about your situation then do give our cancer nurses a call next week. Their number is 0808 800 4040 and the phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Lucy

I was on Zoladex for two years and I do firmly belive it has helped save my life.

Yes I had some side effects but they were not too bad and were a small price to pay for the reult I had.

The side effects were mostly hot flushes which tickled my wife as she kept reminding me, "Now you know what us women have to put up with". Another side effect was I did put in weight. Again my wife had to laugh as she offered me her old bra as I put on weight in all the wring places for a man. The other main side effect I found was without warning if I heard good or sad news, tears would appear in my eyes which I really did find embarssing.

But looking at the overall picture as I say these were a small price to pay and it did provide laughs for my wife.

I hope things work out and it works as successfully for you as it did for me. Best wishes, Brian

  • thank you for your reply..

I am not expecting a lot of side effects at the moment but I have only had it for just over a week..

The hot flushes are happening and sleepless nights but that could be due to me starting chemotherapy Wednesday ( getting anxious)..

I am only having zoladex while I am within treatment to try and save my ovaries xx
