Lenvatinib

Hi, is anyone currently taking this and have any advice about the side effects. Thank you

  • Hi Helen,

I've found some information about this drug and it's side effects just here but if you'd like to have a look but do give our cancer nurses a call if you'd like to chat with someone about this.

Their number is 0808 800 4040 and phone lines are open between 9a.m - 5p.m, Monday - Friday.

Hopefully you'll hear from others who have experience of taking this drug soon.

    All the best,

  • Hi, I have been taking this drug for nearly 12 months now. The side effects are horrendous to be honest. I feel so ill. I suppose though that I should be glad that they are keeping me alive.

  • I have recently started immunotherapy, cycle of infusion followed by 3 weeks lenvatinib. Unfortunately after my first cycle my blood pressure rocketed so they stopped the tabs for the second cycle. was very upset, worried about stopping treatment as my cancer has spread. Just had my third infusion and restarted lenvstinib , blood pressure creeping up after 48 hours. Am adjusting my BP medication to try and manage it . The other main effect is on my voice. It is really hoarse, sounds like I have a really sore throat. Aches and tiredness are fairly standard I think.

I am on pembrolizumab and daily Lenvatinib tablets (20mg). The Lenvatinib have been stopped several times. In fact I have been off them more than on them. My main issue was with bp as well. My meds have been gradually increased and am currently on the maximum dose of two blood pressure tablets. Went for my third cycle of pembrolizumab on the 21st of July but they wouldn't give me the Lenvatinib due to BP being too high again. The oncologist had said that as long as it doesn't go above 160 over 100 it is safe to continue. I told the nurses this and also that I monitor my BP so would halt the Lenvatinib for a day or two if necessary. Anyway I am back at the hospital today so we'll see what happens. I am also taking the record of my BP reads for the last week. I am loath to take any more meds to be honest.
