Something to relieve chemo pain and nausea? Cannabis oil?

Hi my sister in-law has terminal bladder cancer, I'm just looking for something that will relieve the pain and nausea from the chemo but i'm finding it very difficult to find information. All i ever see is my sister in law sleep and puke. Her standard of life has dropped so much and i can see its taken a huge toll on my brother. Obviously the anti sickness etc she is on is not working.

Cannabis oil. Im under no impression this is a cure or anything like that, im simply looking for relief from chemo but i cant find anyones experiances with the product, just that they say it helps but they do not say what type, what percentage is the product, brand name, dosage, how effective it is, how soon it worked or didnt work etc. Is it the stuff you can get from holland and barretts??? does it have any negative effect on the chemo? I get the feeling the holland and barrett stuff just isnt strong enough and is some kind of con for people who havent actually done the research and think its some kind of miracle oil?

I cant find any useful information at all, any information is much appreciated even if its just your experience with it good or bad but please give as much information about what you used as possible so i can atleast go to my brother with something useful.

  • Welcome to the Cancer Chat mrwood89 although I'm very sorry for the reason you've joined us here on the forum.

I can see Alfmeister has already provided you with a rather useful link that explains the difference between cannabis oil and CBD oil but I also wanted to stop by and share the latest information about cannabis oil that is on the NHS website.

Taking this could potentially interfere with your sister in law's current course of treatment and carry other side effects and risks as well so do be sure to discuss this with her doctor first.

I can't begin to imagine how difficult and heartbreaking this situation must be for you all at the moment but the Cancer Chat community are here for you.

    Kind regards,
