I am so sorry to hear that your mum's cancer has now moved on to stage 4. Unfortunately, I have no medical qualifications and am a breast cancer lady myself, so cannot answer your question with any accuracy.

We all react differently to cancer and, it is never easy to tell how long any of us are going to survive with it. The best person to ask is your mum's consultant, who knows her medical history as well as all the details of her cancer. Stage 4 is considered to be the most serious grade of any cancer. I would imagine that that the 6 chemo will not cure her, but may help to stem things for a while and, I am sure that her oncologist will have already explained that.

Doctors can really only make a 'guesstimate' as to how long she has and, many have been way out in the past. There are a number of people on this site who are still surviving many years after their predicted time of death. Sadly, there are also a lot of others who are no longer with us, despite having had longer estimates for their life-span, but never having realized them.

I'm afraid the survival rates for cancer vary considerably between countries and within many countries between dfferent cities and between the cities and the countryside.

My son in law was diagnosed at 37 with stage 4 that spread to liver and peritaneum. He survived 8 years.  It wasn’t an easy 8 years but he kept a really positive attitude and I believed it really helped.  Good luck.
