Wind and bloating

Hi have been diagnosed with ovarian since last year.

have so much problem with wind and bloating.

was wondering if anyone has any suggestions

thanks

  • I'm sorry you're having quite a few problems with wind and bloating at the moment Niggi.

Hopefully some of our ovarian cancer members will pop by soon to share their advice and experiences with you but in the meantime do feel free to give our cancer nurses a call about this on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

It may be worth speaking to your doctor about this as well if you haven't done so already.

    Kind regards,

  • I know it is embarrassing to ask this, but can I ask if the wind is really foul ?     I ask this because I have had two major bowel ops but the wind is uncontrollable 24 hous a day and this is now four months post-op.  I am having chemo but it is not related to this.   I too am worried about it.....

    Kind regards,

    Elizabeth

  • Hi Elizabeth

its not foul my problem is I am unable to let it out.

and it gives me abdominal pain.

  • Hi Niggi,

I am sorry - it is the opposite situation to mine, I hope it can be dealt with for you by your Consultant or GP - the distension must be extremely uncomfortable.

    Best Wishes,

    Elizabeth

  • It is but I’ve given up now been to GP as I get constipated.

hes given me stuff to take but that’s makes it even worse.

Hope you don’t mind me asking what type of cancer did you have? Are you fine now or still having treatment?

    Niggi x

  • Bowel Cancer - Stage 4 - just due to start 4th Cycle of Capecitabine. I really understand the constipation situation too - post surgery I didn't open my bowels for 19 days and when I came home, it was six days until they found a laxative regime that worked. You just don't know what to do with the discomfort.or yourself - can you ask to see your Consultant again quite soon ? Best Wishes, Elizabeth
