How long after a lumpectomy and sentinel node does radiotherapy usually start

Hi, if you contact your Mc Millan nurse she will advise you of the plan. Good luck. Caz
I had my lumpectomy op on 3rd January this year and started my radiotherapy on 9th February. A little bit of advice is to prepare your skin well now with a good double base gel. Your GP should prescribe one for you. I used Isomol Gel. I still use it now.
I had little reaction to the radiotherapy. Just felt a bit hot and a bit itchy towards the end of my treatment but this soon settled down over just a couple of weeks after treatment finished.
I waited for the fatigue to set in but I was lucky that it didn't affect me too much. Just felt a bit tired towards the end of my treatment and this soon passed.
I was able to carry on pretty much as normal. I drove myself to the hospital every day even though my husband came with me. A 40 mile round trip but found it ok.
I have to admit when I saw the machines I had a bit of a wobble as they are so big. Once treatment was underway though it was fine. Exactly the same procedure every day so you know exactly where you are.
Good luck for a happy and healthy future x
