Worried - Impending liver surgery.

I really need some strength today.

I was diagnosed with stage 4 Sigmoid Colon Cancer  with Liver mets in May 2018. Since then I did 3 months Chemo, Folfox and Cetux. I am now 2 Months post chemo waiting for a Liver resection. I have just had a final CT scan and am waiting for results hoping no more bad news pre surgery.

Hoping to hear in coming week about op but am getting so worried. Need the scan to hopefully show no more mets and then need to get the op sorted, recover and then get my Sigmoid sorted. I feel I am at the botom of a big climb and there is so much could go wrong.

Any words of strength or helpful advice would be appreciated.

  • Hi  my husband had aliver resection a few years ago3 or 4 i can't quite remember the 7 years since his stage 4 colon cancer have all blurred together and i'm afraid I can't ask him for confirmation.  I do know that though the immediate aftermath of the operation was not nice he recovered properly within 4 to 6 weeks.  To him it was better than having a stoma fitted which he absolutely hated.  Also the chemo affected him far more than the surgery.  I don't know whether this is orthodox medical advice but if you were to have the op i would suggest moisturising your tummy so that the skin is flexible.  I think that preparing for the worse but expecting the best is a good way of looking at all things to do with cancer.  Try and live in the moment, we often said yesterday was bad and tomorrow might be bad but right now i am okay.  i hope you have family around for support, let them support you i know they will be desparate to help you.  Wishing you all the best for an excellent outcome.

  • Thank you for your support  it is good to know that someone can survive 7 years with stage 4 Colon Cancer. It is also very sad because it sounds like your husband nearly made the cure.

    Thanks for the reply

  • HI,

Just wanted to say that I have been into hospital and have had the liver surgery. They have told me they have removed all cancer with clear margins which is very good news. I am now looking at the Sigmoid surgery and am going for a CT next week, so am once again praying for good news and that the surgery can go ahead.

If you are reading this the news, Thanks and praise to God, is very good and I am half way there.

Fingers Crossed for the second opp. God Bless.
