Lung cancer

I was told before my treatment of pembrolizumab  started that my cough would get worse but l didn't expect it to be so bad.  Lack of sleep, slight pain in my lung, and not being able to go anywhere because  of the  coughing, I've never felt so down. I'm due to have a scan to see how things are doing and I've been told if it isn't working my treatment  will stop. Any advice about my cough?

  • Hi there, I've been through this with my husband who has stage 4 lung cancer .  I bought him some fruit sweets to suck at night when the coughing started and left water to sip slowly to ease his throat.   Prop your pillows up higher in bed as you cough more laid flat.   If you're allowed ibuprofen take one with a warm drink, or ask your GP if you are allowed steroids to ease the inflammation.   After treatment he has kept the tumour under control so this may hopefully happen to you.  I hope this helps you a little.   Good luck.  Carol

  • Thank you  Carol. I'll  try this. I'm pleased your husband  is doing ok, it's so hard to keep your spirits up but I am determined  to do my best. x
