Moving on to my lung cancer

Having just finished my chemo for ovarian cancer, I’m now moving on to having my lung cancer treatment, although the chemo should have helped reduced the lung tumour.  In 4 week’s I have a PET scan, and then, 2 weeks after that, my lung cancer nurse (the lovely Heidi) I will have an operation.  I was hoping for radiotherapy so this has come as a shock!  My Christmas has just been altered big time!

if anyone has has a similar experience I would love to hear from you.  My tumour was diagnosed as stage1.  Thankyou

  • Hi there, what a roller coaster you have been on.  My husband was diagnosed stage 4 lung,  after chemo it had shrunk by half and a year later after 20 sessions of radiotherapy he has been told it hasn't grown anymore,  so stable disease mode .  It was too late to operate so although you will be operated on it does sound like the stage one diagnosis means they can operate.   Good luck with all of this and let us know what happens.   Kind regards , Carol

  • Hi there, my husband had an operation for lung cancer.  He had it at a hospital in London and it was robotic keyhole surgery.  Normally you are in hospital 4 days for this, but he had a heart attack during surgery so was in there 6 days.  During the surgery they took 10 lymph nodes and did a biopsy.  Unfortunately cancer was found in one of them. Once he was healed and well from the operation he was supposed to have chemotherapy as a precaution.  This was 4 sessions 3 weeks apart, unfortunately after 2 sessions he was hospitalised both times and the second time was sepsis.  We have now stopped the treatment so just hoping for the best.

Good Luck on your journey, if you need any questions answered I will be happy to help if I can.
