I was diagnosed with stage 3b ovarian cancer in April and had a radical hysterectomy at the end of May, which also meant having a colostomy bag fitted on my bowel, although I didn’t have bowel cancer. Since then I have had chemotherapy- just had the fifth of six so I’m looking forward to the end of it!
I have had to go into hospital twice as my temperature went up to 38 in the second week after chemo, which is when the white blood cells are at their lowest. However, with plenty of antibiotics dripped into me at our lovely local hospital I was fine.
My lung cancer, which is stage 1, has been put on the back burner, but the chemicals I take for my ovarian cancer also work on lung cancer, so when I have my next CT scan and then see my oncologist, I am hoping for some good news. I expect to have to radiotherapy next, but hopefully that can wait until after Christmas!
I would love to hear from anyone out there who has had, or who has ovarian cancer. So many of the posts are about breast cancer and although I read lots of them - there are some heartbreaking stories out there, and some incredibly kind and generous responses - I would be interested in anyone’s experience of the horrible chemicals I’ve had put through me, and the side effects, particularly peripheral neuropathy in the feet! I’m feeling a bit on my own here.
