Introduction

Hello.. I recently had my left kidney removed in June 2018 my recovery seems to be going well, I am usually someone who trains at the gym 3-4 times weekly I currently walk 2 miles a day & 4 miles at the weekend. I recently have some wind retention similar too directly after my operation but on a smaller scale gripes &slight stabbing pains has anyone had similar ?

i consider myself very lucky as my tumor was found due to a follow up scan from a blood clot in my right calf muscle, I am struggling mentally more since my dad has had his stomach removed from a nasty tumor which still has microscopic lymph nodes remaining in his Esophagus, even with chemotherapy it is difficult to treat.

thanks if you have read I suppose it’s just a venting post along with similar symptoms

  • Hi Jonathan

Haven't heard from you but it has been the festive period so would not expect to hear from you.

Hope you had a nice relaxing Christmas and just wondered how you are.

I had my op on 14 th Dec spent 5 days in hospital because of drain. Had quiet a bit of pain from gas while in hospital and pain in left side since coming out also had a raised temp a few times on a night but drs at surgery don't deem concerned. Just very tired all the time.

Hope your ok and hear from you

    Thinking of you

  • Hi Shelley

I hope you had a nice Christmas I’m still awaiting my last scan results I have my appointment on 21st January so a bit nervous

I had a follow up blood test for kidney function which had dropped so I’m finding I have to eat a clean diet & drink plenty of water or I seen very tired

I’m almost training the same as before my operation 7 months in I just stop if I feel too tired.

I walked daily if I could after my operation & stopped if I was too tired or in pain. I used buscapan quite a lot as I suffered with gas & bloating (which is only just stopping but still happens if I eat too quickly! I find a hot water bottle also helped on my tummy.

I hope your feeling a bit better

    Jonathan

  • Hi Jonathan

    Hope your ok.

Is Monday your first scan results, I've just had appointment to see the consultant after operation for results and follow up, can you rember how soon and what conversation is to be expected, not looking forward to it.

Did you get over the scan as you said it tired you out, did you get results or is it still on the 21st.

Are you in contact with anyone else on here, I've found people seem to post a few times then you don't hear anything again but I suppose everyone just wants to get on with normality.

Are you back at work now?

    Michele

  • Hi Shelley,

Monday is my first follow up appointment with my scan results yes so because it’s been so long waiting I’m hoping all is okay.

Im back to work I had 7 weeks off I work office based so it was easier to go back to work. I had a blood test at my doctors & my kidney function dropped so I increased my exercise & changed what I was eating & my kidney function returned to normal! well balanced diet is more crucial now.

with your follow up appointment make a list of questions as I didn’t & I wished I had asked more questions. No I don’t speak with anyone else but if I can help I will x

    hope your okay

    Jonathan
