Kidney Cancer Stage 4

Hi, my husband is 70 and has just started treatment for Advancer Kidney Cancer. He is receiving Pazopanib (Votrient) - five days in and no side effects yet. He has numerous heart problems as well of which this treatment along with all his heart pills are not ideal to say the least. He is off for another scan tomorrow and I know everyone find this the worse time, wsiting for results.

It's a shock to both of us but if there is anyone else experiencing similar it would be great to be in touch

Thank you

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Bobh.

I'm sorry to read that your husband has just started treatment for advanced kidney cancer but I'm glad he isn't suffering any side effects from his treatment so far and I'll have my fingers crossed it continues that way.

I can see that he had a scan the other day. How did it go? Hopefully it won't be too long before the results of the scan come through but as you've said, the waiting can be tough. If you're able to stay busy and distract yourselves - much easier said than done I know - it will make this time slightly more manageable.

[@Tracy33]‍ posted last month about her husband being diagnosed with kidney cancer so I'm just mentioning her in this post in case you want to chat with each other about what you're going through.

    Best wishes to you both,

  • Hi. My husband was diagnosed last October with Stage 4 Kidney cancer, spread to lungs and tumour on his back. He was put on votrient in January and so far everything has stabilised with the tumour in his kidney reducing slightly.  There have been very few side effects other than his hair going completely white! He does get quite tired from time to time. I hope this helps and gives you some help. Good luck and keep looking forward. xx
