Earlier today my lovely wife reminded me that it is exactly five years since I was given my diagnosis of incurable stage 4 cancer of the oesophagus, along with a very scary prognosis! I joined cancer chat about a week later and made my first post on the 12th.
I would like to thank everyone on here, including absent friends, for their advice, help and support over the past five years.
As the cancer has never gone away (it is currently indolent), I will never be cancer-free and so technically I will never be a "cancer survivor" but, as research continues and treatments become more effective, more and more of us are living with late stage incurable cancers for longer and longer. My hope is that one day, like HIV/AIDS before them, incurable xancers will become a treatable and long term condition.
Thanks again!
Dave
