Pain after surgery

I have posted on this site previously but now would like Some advice?

six weeks on from thoracic surgery I am experiencing a lot of pain not only from wound  area (chest) but also with shoulders and back, to the point I am not sure what to do

i am taking paracetamol but as I also suffer from hip and back trouble prior to this it isn’t really helping

i can’t get into my doctors for an appointment, but I did go at the hospital request when I was discharged, this was to review what medication I was on, he said I could have cocodamol for one month only, but didn’t suggest anything else

Has anyone experienced this surgery before and how did they go about it, I know everyone is different as regards pain but I thought I would be feeling a lot better now

thanks for any ideas you may send

  • Hello Rosies

I have not had the same problem as you but after a fall & factured my hip I  still have a great deal of pain. But I'm not sure what is causing the pain as I have bladder cancer.

My GP said get some paracetamol from the chemist.(Icannot get out hence the chemist delivers my repeat prescriptions) Ordered  from the GP haha.

You cannot get CoCodamol without a prescription.

I eventully after speaking to McMillon nurse managed to get CoCodamol from my GP but he will only give me 100 per month I should take 8 per day, this amount will not last a month so I tend to take when the pain is so bad I cannot walk.

I do hope you feel better soon a big hug x
