Angry

My dad was diagnosed with sacoma, lung, liver and lymph node cancer after being admitted to hospital with a urine infection!! He was sent home 2 weeks ago and told there is nothing they can do as he is too ill. I had to arrange carers and i contacted the doctor as he was unable to wee so they sent a community nurse out. No sign of mcmillan nurses as the doctors are taking their time to request. My poor dad cant eat, cant take his tablets, is in pain, has lumps appearing everywhere, sleeps all day, is hallucinating and is very scared as noone has told him anything!!!!!!!!!!

  • What a *** Up situation your Dad is in...unaceptable in my eyes, the oath of a doctor is to do no harm well in your father case harm is done, don't be shy to speak your mind to whom it may concern (I do) here in Canada we have something called the college of Doctor's they supervise all Doctor's who practice here and we can easely make a complaint, don't you have the same in the UK ?

  • Hi Tdog,

Sorry to read that you're in such a frustrating situation. Pester your GP by phone, ask for a home visit for someone to explain to him what's going on and ask when to expect someone from MacMillan to visit. Keep telling them how bad things are until they pull their fingers out and do their job properly. Care coordination is the responsibility of the GP, if they don't do it right everything gets delayed. Make a log of every call and visit in case you make a formal complaint.

You could ring MacMillan directly and ask them to chase your GP too 0808 808 0000 - there's more info at www.macmillan.org.uk/.../who-can-help.html

    Good luck

    Dave
