Side effects FEC T

Hi all.

I've just had my first round of the FEC today  and initially felt ok, but about 3 hours after had a headache and suddenly felt really tired and spaced out.

I thought this would happen about 3 days in .is this normal??

TIA

  • Hi Suzy58,

ive had my 3 rounds of FEC now just about to have my 2nd round of target therapies today (herceptin, dotaxcel and something else) hence the being up at this hour due to the dreaded steroids!

everyone reacts differently but like you I experienced that spaced out feeling from day 1 and it lasted about a week along with upset tummy but didn’t have nausea. Was very tired though but it does improve after a week or so. People say symptoms worsen with each FEC but I didn’t find this at all. Mine improved, either that or I just knew what to expect and got used to it. I hope in your case symptoms also improve. I did however end up in hospital after each FEC with nuetrophilia as my blood counts were so low so was very prone to serious infection. After last FEC I contracted sepsis. It wasn’t because of anything I’d done wrong as I was eating and drinking well. Was just how my body reacted. My first targeted therapy is the only time I’ve not been hospitalised so hope it continues this way. Only side affect I’m bothered about is my 13lb weight gain. Was told it’s due to the medication and will fall off. Better be the case. Got a wedding dress to squeeze into in March that I can’t even get a leg hair in at the moment (if I had any). That was another side affect. My hair fell out rapidly as they told me it was unlikely cold caps would work. Noticed it coming out on day 11 after first FEC then in the next 4 days it was gone. Eyebrows and eye lashes too. Well every hair on my body really but it didn’t bother me as much as I thought it would and in the grand scheme of things it’s not my biggest worry.

really hope it all goes well for you. Just stay positive :-)
