BCG Treatment

Hi.

Ive just had my 3rd course of treatment & as they say on this forum it has got unbearable to take with chronic pain etc etc. My treatment nurses have been useless in offering any advise regarding  easing the pain with any medication etc, on my last incursion of the BCG on removal of the catheter tube the remains of the BCG was dripping on the clinic floor & i had to ask the staff for some tissues so i could wipe the floor, the staff did'nt seem at all concerned but i was really annoyed as i know the BCG is potent stuff, my penis was also dripping from BCG but no tissue was offered. I dont think i will be able to take anymore of the BCG due to me being scared of other infections appearing.

  • Hello wainfleet45,

Poor you it sounds like you had a dreadful experience but I hope you can bring these incidents to your nurses' and the hospital staff's attention so that it doesn't happen again in the future. You should mention to them the fact that you are scared of infections appearing and I hope that they will be able to reassure you before future treatments. Not too many sessions to go now before the end of your treatment, I guess?

We have some information on BCG on our website here which you might be interested in reading. Perhaps it would reassure you to talk to one of our nurses about it all? You can ring them on this free number if you live in the UK 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

I also hope that you will get to talk to others here who have had BCG treatment before. I've done a little search on the forum for you for pasts threads on the subject. You can read @dave456's thread here as well as [@jamesmozzer]‍ 's contributions too and feel free to respond if you wish. I hope they will also be along soon to share their experience with you. If you search the forum for 'BCG' you will be able to find all past relevant threads on the subject and choose the ones you wish to engage with.

I really hope the pain diminishes and that you have a much better experience next time.

    Best wishes,
