Womb Cancer

Hello everyone, I was diagnosed with Womb cancer just over a month ago, which resulted in a total hysterectomy 12 days ago. All taking out is being analysed and wondered if anyone knows how long results take to come back as the waiting is horrid to know if all clear.

kind regards Becky

  • Hi Becky, hope your recovery is going well.

Hospitals may vary in timescales so this is just a broad idea. I had total hysterectomy when biopsy showed  atypical hyperplasia complex which are possible pre-cancer cells. I was told around 2 weeks for post op results. At 2and a half weeks I rang the consultant's secretary to see if they were back. After checking she said yes, but the doc hadn't signed off on them yet. She promised to "wave them under his nose" when she next saw him.

An hour later, she rang to say the doc wanted me to attend clinic in two days as it was easier than sending a letter, said ask at reception to see him rather than a junior. You can bet my heart sank....

The consultant met me, said to listen very carefully. I had cancer. He said "You don't have cancer though, You had it. It's gone." We had a long talk, it was good to be able to ask questions right away.

I hope things work out well for you. Try to take one step at a time.

    Regards, gamechanger

  • Thanks for your reply gamechanger,

i got given an appointment to go back after the operation but got cancelled as results not back but might call also to see if they have yet as it will 2 weeks this Wednesday.

I am thankful that all has been taken away as reduced chances of spreading and so far not having hot flushes, which im glad of as unable to have any therapy until have results. Just hormones messing with emotions so up and down but im sure will settle down as early days.

Hope your recoverying or recovered well as not sure how long ago you had your operation and all is fine at present with you. Its such a blessing when anything is caught early enough and going through specific situations definitely makes you think and see things differently,

Take care and kind regards Becky
