Clinical Trial

I have been offered to take part in clincial trial for breast cancer adjuvant treatment using Prosignia gene testing- it might mean I don't have to go through chemo which would be a blessing but I can't find any information on recurrence rates with/without chemo and don't know what to do - what would you do?

  • Hello SashEP,

I am one of the enquiry nurses. We have been asked by our moderator Lucie if we can add anything to your post.

Research data is very complicated but this would be where to look to find information about the benefits of adjuvant (additional ) chemotherapy after surgery for breast cancer. But there is a sea of data and it is easy to get lost in it or get the wrong end of the stick.

Research has shown that the benefits of adjuvant chemotherapy can vary and depend on the risk of recurrence which in turn depends on the things like the biology and stage of the cancer. So I think the best thing to do would be to ask your specialist team if they can give you an idea of how much chemotherapy could benefit someone in your situation so you have the right information to factor into any decision you make.  I hope they can help.

    Best wishes,

    Julia
