Recovery from lower right lobectomy

Hi

I had a VATS lower right lobectomy on 26 April 2018.  Am recovering well, but still have a little bit of a cough.  The cough disappeared while I had the lung drain in, but as soon as it was removed it came back.  Just feels like I have to clear my throat.  Has anyone else experienced this at all?

  • Hello and welcome to the forum, Raddersj62.

I'm sorry you've not had a reply to your question yet - it could be due to the quieter Bank Holiday weekend. I'm 'bumping' your post in the hope that someone who's gone through something similar will respond soon,

In the meantime, I wanted to let you know that we have had quite a few conversations about lobectomy recovery on Cancer Chat over the years. If you search "lobectomy" you'll see some discussions listed, which may be helpful:

We also have a friendly team of Cancer Nurses that you can call to talk to: 0808 800 4040 (Mon - Fri, 9am - 5pm).

Finally, the British Lung Foundation also has a helpline: 03000 030 555, FYI.

I do hope you can get some good support, and that your recovery continues to go well.

    Wishing you all the best,

  • Hi Raddersj62

I had a VATS  lobectomy 2 weeks ago today. I get a frog in my throat every now and again and also make involuntary noises - like a spasm - every now and again when I breathe in! Sounds very funny and makes my partner laugh! Have been advised neither is anything to worry about but in this situation its hard not to worry about everything!

How are you doing generally? Have tyou been for your  follow up yet? Mine is not  for a month which seems a really long time to me?

Look forward to hearing from you and hope your good recovery continues.
