metastatic adenocarcinoma

hello,

just wanted to join for some support really - it has been a terrible few weeks. My mum has had pain for 6 months and despite A and E trips, paying to see private consultants out of desperation and more GP appointments than I can count - my mum's cancer returning has not been picked up on any scans.

She had surgery to remove what they thought would be scar tissue but sadly what they found was a large amount of tumours in the intestines.

Her original tumour was the right side of her colon which was removed in 2016 and some chemo followed (terrible toxicity) but sadly it has returned through the blood and we are faced with few answers given it's such a rare cancer.

has anybody else had any experience with adenocarcinoma? Are there any targeted therapy options?

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Smudgecat.

I'm really sorry to read what your mum has been through and that she now finds herself with such a rare cancer.

I know you're wanting to hear from others that have experience of this so I just wanted to put you in touch with [@Wonderwoman75]‍ and [@Luna85]‍. Wonderwoman75 was diagnosed with metastatic adenocarcinoma in September/October last year and Luna85's mum has this diagnosis and now that I've tagged them both in this post they'll hopefully stop by when they can to say hello and chat about their experiences with you.

Do feel free to give our cancer nurses a call if you'd like to find chat to them about this type of cancer or try to find out about targeted therapy options as they will do all they can to help. You can call them for free on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Kind regards,
