Beginning chemo

Hi

After several ops to remove Fallopian tube cancer I am about to start 6 sessions of chemo and this terrifies me.  I have very bad access, veins, and they always have problems putting in canulas.  I'm still recovering from my major surgery and feel like a double decker bus hit me so I'm wondering how much more my body can take, is it up to chemo?

Is there anyone who could share their experience of chemo? I do realise everyone deals with it differently, different side effects etc but just a friendly chat from someone who's been through it or going through it would help.

Thanks Jo

  • Hi

I have now been in bed for 6 days with extreme nausea, acid reflux and feeling exhausted.  I went back to hospital on Tuesday and they said I was one of the unlucky people!  They changed my medication but it's not changed how I feel apart from the acid reflux seems to have calmed now.  I am finding it very hard with this feeling of being constantly nausea.  I am going to go back tomorrow to the hospital as I just can't carry on like this.

    Hi Jo,

I'm so sorry to hear that you are still feeling 'under par'. I do hope that your care team can help you when you go back tomorrow.

Please let us know how you get on.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi

Its day 14 and I can say I have actually been out of the house for the first time since my first chemo 14 days ago.  I still have some nausea and feel tired.  Can't say I'm feeling well yet and certainly not looking forward to more chemo next week.

I am thinking of stopping my chemo, going to talk with my doctor on Monday as I really don't want to spend the next 3 months feeling like this.  They did say my chemo was preventative, some cells may be floating around from surgery, but they really don't know.

    Hi Jo,

I m sorry to read that you are still struggling with chemo. How many sessions were you scheduled to have? Do please let us know what you decide to do after you have seen your doctor on Monday.

    Until then, stay strong.

    Kind regards,

  • Morning. I had a radical hysterectomy on 14th Jan. I was shocked when I was told I need Chemo. I'm really scared of the side effects etc. I've been really strong so far and I'm recovering well from my op. Chemo starts on Feb 22nd. Your post sounds so positive. I too have endometrial cancer. I'm starting to feel scared now but I realise now  everyone's body reacts differently. I'm assuming you may have had similar chemo to what I will be having. Hope you're doing well xx
