6 months of ALL maintenance left and hair is shedding lots

I was diagnosed with Lymphoblastic Leukemia in May 2016 (but I get the exact same treatment as ALL). My hair fell out at the end of May and began to grow back very thick straight after. I reacted badly to a chemo that October and it didn't grow back until January 2017. Since then my hair has been growing very quick and very thick, it's about 7 inches long!

I take monthly vincristine and steroids bt taken a break from steroids the past 8 months and have has a very bad flu infection the past month. In the last two or so weeks of noticed more hair in my brush and especially the shower. My consultant has said the chemo I'm on won't take all of my hair completely again but I'm struggling with seeing my hair around me all the time - it's a huge psychologocal stress!

I was just wondering if anyone else experienced something similar or have just had random, temporary spells of extreme shedding/thinning??

  • My 53 year old wife is now in hospital for a bone marrw transplant for ALL. She was diagnosed with ALL in may of 2017. She lost all hair, but now it is growing back slowly. She is happy to wear a beautiful wig while her hair regrows. I believe yours will grow back with time. Sporadic hair loss during treatment sounds normal. Good luck and be well with maintainence!!
