Vent day : ((

Well just waiting for my son to come out of his tests at hosp ... got so many things going on in my family at the mo ... lost cousin to lung cancer in Dec, untie just starting her breast cancer journey... sister's Alzheimer's getting really bad, last visit yesterday, she just sat there watching cartoons .... now my baby (36) who's diabetic, getting tests down his throat and back passage, and he's seeing lights in his eye ...

Know we have to wait for results, but this is like the straw that broke the camel's back ... it was easier when l went through my mastectomy, l could cope with that ... can't talk to family as they are all coping with their probs ... so sitting here waiting to know he's gonna be o.k ... want to scream,  no more ... just give us a break for awhile ... I'll come back tomoz and take life on and be strong again as l tell others , cancer wants us to break ... so I'll just have my rant at it and go back to hold on to this rollercoaster and put two fingers up to it again ... think he's gonna brake me... not with you lot here, it's  not ... Chrissie xx

  • Hi sorry to hear about your mouth ulcers.I had them to and used a warm salt water mouth wash 3x a day.1 teaspoon of salt to 1/2 pint of warm water, but you should contact the chemo clinic and tell them they will check how severe the ulcers are and give you stronger medication /ointment if needed.Good luck x

  • Thank you clouds,  for info for Sophie.h... just hope she picks this up ... she's a very special brave lass ..

  • Hi Chris,

Well, I've been doing OK. Just had cycle 2 start on Monday and so far, no sickness (the biggest relief) and have lost most of my hair (so shaved it off). Some other minor side effects like dry mouth and belly ache when I come of the steroids, but overall, doing OK!

My second cycle did have to be delayed because my neutrophils weren't high enough, which means that I have to self inject Filgrastim twice mid-cycle. Not much looking foward to that, but no doubt I'll get used to it after a couple of rounds.

Aww, didn't know you had an Emily too! :)

Keep strong - and just read your update too - such good news for you! xx

  • Hi Emily... at least it's all started now ... and your body's probably, getting used to all that, going round ... others have said the dry mouth happens and loss of taste too .. l know it's really daunting to have to start injections, but you can do it ... my son was only 14 when diagnosed diabetic, and they wouldn't let him out of hospital till he learned ... and finger tip ones to to monitor his glucose level too.. so they got us some oranges to practice on, apparently that's closest to skin ..

So we both learned ... and that's for the rest of his life ... that's my Emily's daddy ... he was petrified .. a week later he was expert .. so just look at it as one more notch on your belt ...

Yea that's why I was drawn to your thread coz you put EmilyS and that's on her books at school .. so knew l had to make sure you was o.k ... funny how things start a ...

So you get your boxing gloves on, and knock this cancer for 6 ... wer right there in your corner ... how's the scalp going.. it's so cold out there ... l love the head wear they have now ... hope you can get fur lined one to keep out the cold ...

I've just reached my 1st milestone ... 6 months since op and still standing ... we can do this buddy .. love to hear your up dates ... hang on in there ... Chrissie xx

  • Hi Chris - goodness, sorry - been ages since I read this and meant to reply!

Congrads on the first milestone. Woo hoo!

I'm hanging in there - more than half way through cycle 2 now. Counting days though. Missing my home, my kitties... life in general. 140 days total, 96 left to go.  Oh, and yes, I managed that injection, but it took 10 mins to psyche myself up! LOL.

    But yes - I'm boxing! ;)

  • Hi Chrissie.  i m sorry to hear about your family's health problems.  I've also been diabetic for 27 years i have 2 insulin injections each day and constantly check my blood sugars . when i was having chemo it was impossible to keep them under control. i have also had my family been ill . nov 2016 my dad died of bowel cancer then April 2017 i got breast cancer had chemo and a mastectomy.  I still have very bad pains in my legs oncologists say it could be caused by the chemo im having a full body CT scan in feb and I'm very nervous about the results from that. And then this week i went with my sister to have her cataract operation but like everything at the moment it didn't go to plan., I've no idea what they did but it resulted in her having to have her eye ball stitched and daily visits to the hospital she also suffers from COPD so it's just what she needs .. i just wonder how much more we can take.

  • Hi Emily... bless ya ... hold on lass ... your well over half way ... are you away from home for the whole treatment ... hope someone's keeping an eye on kitties ... they must be missing you ... keep them boxing gloves on, and one step and one day at a time ... keep kicking cancers *** ...

Thinking of you brave lady .... Chrissie xx
