oxygen therapy

Hello,  I am asking on behalf of my husband who is going through cancer treatment and has just been diagnosed with a severe radiation rectal ulcer (caused by prostate radiation treatment).  I have heard about Oxygen Healing Therapy (HBOT) which may be able to help with this and I wondered if anybody has tried this treatment for a similar cause and if it helped in any way.  The pain from the ulcer is so debilitating for him and all they can give him is strong painkillers.

  • Welcome to the forum tilburstow although I'm sorry to read your husband has been diagnosed with a severe radiation rectal ulcer due to the prostate radiation treatment he had.

Have you and your husband discussed this with his medical team? If not, it would be best to run it by them first as they be able to tell you more about it and let you know if it would help with your husband's pain. Hopefully you'll hear from someone on the forum who may have had this treatment soon but do feel free to give our cancer nurses a call next week if you would like to chat to someone about this in person as well.

    Their freephone number is 0808 800 4040 and are available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

I hope you are able to find the information you are seeking from others here on the forum and that the pain your husband is currently experiencing gets less debilitating soon.

    Best wishes to you both,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
