Travelling Abroad With Cancer

So waiting for my biposy results to come back in a week, they say they are "concerned" with what they have seen on my MRI and uktra sound. Had BC 3 yrs ago and Im very worried its come back.

I have booked a holiday of a lifetime with my partner to Austrailia for 18 days going on Boxing day. Now I don't know if I can still go? Would obviously lose a lot of money if we cancel, we have been saving for ages so wouldn't be able to afford to go again for a long time.Would I be able to get travel insurance? Is it safe to travel? If they say next week they want to start treatment or operate would it do a lot of harm to delay it a couple of weeks? What if this is the only chance I ever get? What if I never get better?

  • Hi Chloe,

So sorry to read about your concerns. If you bought travel insurance before you were aware there might be a problem you will already be covered and should be able to cancel and get most of your money back.

Travel insurance can be tricky and expensive to arrange, as I am sure you know, once you've had a diagnosis but things get even more complicated if you've had it once before and are awaiting either results or treatment to start.

You're best asking the questions about the impact of delaying treatment of your oncologist if it turns out there is a problem next week.

I hope the news is good.
