I'm doing really well thank you, hope you are too. I haven't had my surgery yet but it's planned for September . I have spoken to to my consultant and she has advised me that yes I could end up with chronic pain but it's a risk like any other surgery. I could be fine. I'm 44 and quite fit, I run and go to the gym regularly. I don't have any other options due to being quite petite. Happy to share the out come with you after surgery if that helps. Im 40, however suffer from chronic fybro myalgia... in have pain 24 hours a day, it does not go away. I dont know what to do in regards to making the decision i know only i can make the decision... i have been given only one option from my surgeon double mastectomy with reconstruction. Im a size 8 and dont have the fat to transfer. Im not keen on having implants as that comes with a lot if problems.... 

Sorry to hear you have that to deal with as well. Would it be delayed reconstruction? I had mastectomy on my left side and had an implant straight away but due to infections I lost the implant. I'm a size 6 so like yourself don't have the fat so will be having another implant to make the boob. I would talk to your consultant, ask to see photos and take it from there. It's really hard as everyone's body is so different and reacts different. When are you due surgery? PM me if you like xx

i know this is an old post but I have to choose between breast reconstruction from tummy tissue, back muscle or implant. Not keen on an implant so was hoping you could share your experience

Unfortunately due to Covid my surgery has been cancelled quite a few times. I am planned to go on the beginning of September so won't know they out come until then. I am still have the LD flap reconstruction with implant as that's my only choice. I think it's all down to personal preference, I would totally recommend talking to your consultant and finding out all the risks and best recommendations for yourself. I know they like you to make the choice though. Good luck. I'm happy to let you know my out come but won't be for a while

Hi Jacqui 

I am nearly 4 weeks post op and doing really well. I'm so happy with the outcome, I know it's early days but it's so much better than I thought it would be. Recovery has been good, pain wasn't to bad to be honest. I start physio next week as struggling with my posture as the muscle is naturally pulling my shoulder forward. I can lift my arm above my head but not straight as yet. Been walking about 4 miles a day the last week and feeling stronger by the day. Happy to answer any questions you have xx
