14 year old girl diagnosed with chronic myeloid Leukemia

I am a 14 year old girl diagnosed with chronic myeloid Leukemia. My condition is quite rare for my age, it is mostly common in men over 60. Even though it is difficult to deal with, I am still stronger than ever. Every single day I tell myself I can do this/ positive thoughts. Anyone who is struggling out there with cancer you are amazing, strong and every morning I want you to think positive because you are going to bet this. Cancer doesn’t define you, it’s just an extra detail that makes you much stronger and appreciate everything you’ve got. Look in the mirror and smile, your amazing!!! Your gonna fight this with me!! :)) ️ ️

  • Great attitude Katie. And indeed you have a very high chance of a normal lifespan. CML is a real cancer success story compared to 30 years ago.  I also think positive but I do recognize that I am more fortunate than some other members of this site.  I know that I, like you, will have to be very unlucky now not to have a normal lifespan. But I try to be philosophical as well, just in case I am one of the very unlucky ones.  xx Harry

  • Hi Katie what an amazing attitude to have I had leukaemia when I was 8 an have gone on to have a very normal life however I am now 29 and just finishing treatment for breast cancer (not connected anyway to my leukaemia) I have met a lot of people who are a lot older and hardly any off them have an attitude like you you should be very proud of yourself an remember this is the beginning of your life and you will have many happy years ahead of you xx
