medicine

Hi,

I have been diagnosed with cancer and the doctor is willing to prescribe an Opiate but I read online of people having tolerance to Opiates.

So I ask you if you are on Opiate medicine, do you notice any tolerance to it?. Does it still work?. And where you taking it every day.

Any help regarding this is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

  • I've been on slow release morphine, twice a day, since June last year. I also have oramorph for breakthrough pain that I can take up to 6 times a day, although I rarely need to use that now.

The slow release still works because I get increased pain if I miss a few doses.

There's no doubt I'm physically dependent on it, though not addicted. There is a difference.

If you have the opportunity to use it and it works for you, then I'd go for it. The difference between even very mild background pain and being pain free, is immense.

    Best Regards
