advanced prostate cancer

HI everyone. My dad is 83 years old and was diagnised with metastatic prostate cancer in 2009. Hormone therapy stopped working over a year ago and he was put on to dexamethasone.. which did the trick but made him adrenal insufficient. He has tried enzalutamide which worked but he couldnt tolerate it and he has been on abiraterone for 2 months but his PSA has risen 4 points. IS there any one else out there that has been through this stage and are there any other therapies he can try.... many thanks

    Hi Sss,

A warm welcome to Cancer Chat.

I am afraid that I know very little about Prostate Cancer. I have had 3 bouts of breast cancer. I am sorry to hear about your Dad's struggle with various treatments. There will be others on here who have first-hand experience of this. Can I suggest that you use the search engine on the blue banner at the top of this page and insert the same key words? This will bring up previous posts on the subject.

The other thing that you could do is to post this same question in the 'Ask the Nurses' section of this site.

Please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you whenever you feel like talking.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
