lymph nodes

Hi

i have just had a mastectomy following a local reoccurrence after 20 years. My surgeon said there was a cluster of nymph loads near my tumour which she removed. I am awaiting the results of these nodes. Does anybody know if the nodes are normally "sitting beside" the tumour as she put it?  Obviously I am worried my cancer may have spread to them. I don't get the results until 7 November

    Hi Jo,

A warm welcome to Cancer Chat.

You have lymph nodes all over your body. Your lymphatic system is like the circulatory system. It carries  lymph all over the body in the same way as your arteries and veins carry blood to all of the body and back to the heart.  They cluster more in certain areas such as underarm, neck and I think, also the groin.

I hope that you get good news when you get your results on 7th. Please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you whenever you feel like talking.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
