Picked up Rosie tonight. Foul journey, should take an hour, add half an hour. Got to admit it felt good to drive again, gave my control freak an outing, she’s been a bit restricted lately, bless... think she might start demanding equal treatment soon. Felt quite proud of the drive home thro the busiest part of the evening, in a new car and horrible weather. Didn’t scare Santa too much either!!!
Got my pampering tomorrow afternoon so looking foreard to that, the bag of possible freebies even more, cos I’m a tight tyke!
Hi glad you got your car so important .glad you're doing well . you say you got look for a job did you have to give up work bit nosy ain't I .my sick pay from work runs out beginning February then I think all I'm entitled to ESA which isn't a lot so going make big difference because I don't know when I'll be ready to work again got 2 ops first liver and bowel and more chemotherapy.you said you some people can be recommended for grant holiday how did you find that out .I been having low mood while which to be expected but don't want go on antidepressants or sleeping tablets .I listen music when can't sleep . enjoy your independence with your car

I’m sure there is financial support packages available too - might b worth while speaking with Macmillan for some financial advice. I am lucky in as much as I am retired so my finances remained static when diagnosed nd during my current treatment (other than travel expenses) the impact of this illness on income is frightening we have enough on our plates without the worry of the practicalities of life pulling us down. Thank god for the NHS ensuring we don’t worry about paying medical bills.
did anyone see the report on bbc news about more people with stage 4 cancers now living longer than before- what used to b months for many is now yrs. Using the term incurable but treatable- I found this news item heart warming. Sending my heartfelt thoughts to anyone who has or getting this diagnosis - remember it is treatable. X
Tigercub - low mood is expected. Just talk it out. A whole rollercoaster of emotions is what I have been and am going through.
Best thing is to ring up Macmillan and they'll explain what your entitlements are with regards to sick pay, benefits, etc. Every case is different. Nosiness is a good thing! I was working but due to restructure they decided to make my role reduced & lower. I was in middle of consultations when i got called back by hospital for biopsy. Last day of consultations I got me results (diagnosis) so took redundancy. At least they were that kind to me! And then my "journey" began. It's a tough road but onwards and upwards.
Saw that report this morning, it seemed a very positive take on cancer which does make a change from the doom and gloom we are quite often presented with.
Getting used to a different car after 15 years of the old one will be a challenge but it does feel good to be independent again, god that makes me sound like even more of a decrepit wreck than I already might be but I think you probably know what I mean!
