oral-cavity-and-oropharyngeal-cancer

My uncle is suffering from oral-cavity-and-oropharyngeal-cancer (CA buccal mucosa). When we have done the biopsy doctor told that it was in an advanced stage. We cross consult with 2 more doctors. Initially, it didn't spread to lungs ( biopsy and CT scan done at same time ). One chemotherapist suggested giving 3 rounds of chemo first, then surgery. Two other doctors suggested going for surgery as it was not metastatic then. One month after surgery cancer spread to lungs. Would it be good if we could have gone for chemo first and then surgery? What are the treatments available now other than chemo as it is metastatic now.

  • Hi Sauravd and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear about your uncle's diagnosis and that it has now spread to his lungs. Unfortunately we can't offer medical advice but maybe your uncle could sit down with his medical team and have a discussion where he can ask these questions and see what treatment options are now available to him.

I have included some information we have about this type of cancer on our website here for you to have a look as it includes a section about treatment options which I hope will help as well.

    Kind regards,
