The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • Hi Dizzle.

Firstly congratulations as long as it’s what you want. Secondly get it confirmed by your GP as soon as possible. Thirdly don’t assume that everything that’s happened recently is bad and talk to your oncologist ASAP before you celebrate, worry or whatever.  Remember we are friends here and will be with you all the way on this new journey, We all know what shock can do to our equilibrium and we all know that getting facts from the experts helps. We’re better when we know what is true and have a plan

.i truly hope everything turns out how you would like it to, I’m sending one of my famous squeezes from my hand to yours. My thoughts are with you.

  • Oh wow oh wow oh wow!!!!!

Talk to gp asap......the whole process may well be more than do..able.....oh I can't believe it, I actually teared up reading your post.....please keep us posted....I shall be  waiting for updates xxxxx

  • Hi Marlyn, sorry this reply is rather late...Life has been rather busy so I’ve not been on here much.

when I found I needed chemo I was petrified but it hasn’t been as bad as expected. I’ve had a couple of rough days each cycle but nothing too bad. I’ve had 4 trips to hospital with a fever.

Top tip is if you’re suffering with any symptoms at all do not hesitate to call your chemo line and ask what drugs they can give you to help. Don’t suffer in silence! Happy to answer questions by pm if it helps.

It does whip by quickly, I’ve got my last one on Tuesday xx

  • Last one on tues? Will you ring the bell? I know I will! ( if they have one)

in my head chemo will melt my eyeballs and I shall end up on the bathroom floor in a heaving wreck....so anything less than that will be a bonus!

Thank you for replying......any tips and wise words are more than welcome xxxx

  • Marlyn you made me chuckle. I am sure it will not melt your eyeballs. Thinking like that I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised although I have no experience it cannot be that bad.

Best wishes to everyone for the week ahead.

I have started taking the tablets which nobody seems to know anything about and hope they work.

  • Omg Dizzel what amazing news. Well sundial has touched ground on everything so.... what she said :-)

to gp ASAP and appt with your consultant too.

bet your mind is in a whirl :-)

keep us updated lass and erm..... this is a new line for me.... keep offa the alcohol ;-)

hope love and joy being sent your way ️ ️ X

  • Wow mrsfingers.... last chemo on Tuesday..... I know it’s easy for me to say but.... it seems to have flown by.

Big high five to you lass.... you done good and we know it ️ X

  • Oh I do hope the pills do good things.....certainly worth a shot...

yes, all being well eyeballs will be in tact post chemo session....I will let you know..lol xxxx

  • Yes I thought the same too Marlyn! I thought I’d spontaneously combust or have steam coming out of my ears like grandma in George’s marvellous medicine. I’m pleased to say it wasn’t quite like that! The fear is probably worse than the reality, though of course everyone has a different experience and side effects.

  • You’re not wrong Sandra, it’s flown by. Be glad once Tuesday is done x
