The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • Thank you so much for your reply Jolamine. I really appreciate it. I'm searching for different answers but all my 3 signs point to cancer , it would be good to hear stories which turnt out benign with the same symptoms I have... once I have my apt on Tuesday I will update you with what they say xx

    Hi Natasha,

I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 11 years. I have also had a few additional scares, which although the symptoms were the same, the outcome was benign after testing. Even my surgeon thought that these were cancerous at the time. This just shows that it really is impossible to tell until you have had the necessary tests.

Here's hoping that it's nothing serious at your age.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • I really hope you are doing ok , sending lots of love.

it amazes me how strong you are reading your stories.

    thank you.
milk update on here next week x

  • Evening peeps

it's been quiet on here... hope that's a good thing.

    the bad :- none yay

the good :- started with typical cold symptoms on Wednesday and here I am today ... feeling better... yay.

don't know if it's because of lock down or what but my newsfeed is full of families celebrating Valentines rather than couples. I love this move.

Schools on holiday and ill ones mum has taken a wks holiday to be with them which means I get to have the retirement life if thought I'd have... for a wk anyway

hope everyone has had as good a day as they could x

  • Hello Sandra and all. Hope you all have been keeping warm and safe - it has been absolutely fffrreerzzziiinnggg!!

It has been quiet on here as I guess everyone is dealing with all they have on their plates.

I have not been wow - ended up with an infection in op site and 9 large vials aspirated. Was walking very lopsided for a week and the snow prevented me from getting to hospital but it has been quite the challenging recovery this time. I see the oncologist on wed - let's see what the next step of this dreaded journey is.
What I have discovered this time is one needs to really speak up and ask for the right support. And believe you me I have been doing a lot of that!!

Dizzle how are your gorjus babies?

Hope everyone is doing okay - Jolamine did you get your scan/results?

Thankfully it's warming up from tomorrow. Take care all.

Sandra hope the cold totally goes away.

    Hi Sandra,

I hope that you enjoy your week off. It's great occasionally, but I'm sure tthat you wouldn't like it all the time.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hello everyone

    Good

Had my cataract sorted last October. Eyesight not that much better burn doctors finding it easier to monitor the changes in thr back if my eye. Waiting now for some laser treatment which shoukd improve the sharpness if vision. Had a new puppy, Teddy. (Site won't let me upload picture so will change my avatar)

    Bad

Hubby has been in hospital for nearly five weeks with severe dehydration and acute kidney injury. Unfortunately he seems to have caught covid in hospital but thankfully he was asymptomatic. He spent two weeks on s covid ward now back on a green ward. No news about discharge yet.,

    Hi Sundial,

It's great to hear from you. It sounds as if you've had a busy and worrying time. I am so sorry to hear about your hubby, but glad to hear that he is improving and hope that you get him home again soon.

I'm happy to hear that you have had your cataract operation. It's a pity that your eyesight is not a lot better, but hopefully it will be after the laser procedure. I certainly found that this helped me after I had my cataracts done.

What a gorgeous wee puppy Teddy is - I'm quite jealous!

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thanks for your thoughts lolamine

in all the other news, I forgot to say that I'd had my first vaccine dose last Friday. Yippee

    Hi Sundial,

I had mine this morning - great fun, as I can't have an injection in my arms, due to bilateral lymphoedema. There was no private room, so ended up in the corner of a two sided booth with someone holding a blanket in front of me while the nurse injected me in the thigh.

    Kind regards,
    Jolamine xx
