The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

    Hi Jbains,

We really have to push sometimes. I was told that I had an MRI for my back pain 3 years ago and, as that was clear there was unlikely to be any problem this time. I have a number of other symptoms which all tie in too, but these were ignored.

I'm sorry to hear that you are no further forward with your rib pain. Did you go to see your GP after your consultant advised you to do so? It is so frustrating when you are having symptoms which are ignored. I hope that you find a reason for this pain soon. Still, I suppose that one good thing to come out of this was that you've got this new diagnosis - not something you wanted I know, but by doing this, you've caught it as early as you could.

Every recurrence becomes harder, so I'm not surprised that you are struggling. Just hang on to those positive vibes and you'll get through this. In the meanwhile, I hope that you and your family have a wonderful Christmas.

    Kindest regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi Sandra,

Many thanks for your good wishes. I'm all ready if need be to kick this into touch.

I hope that you enjoy being with your grandchildren and that you all have a wonderful Christmas, despite all the doom and gloom about.

    Kindest regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Sandra

Did the X-ray on fri after speaking with GP. Results should be 7-10 days but probably longer with Xmas this week. But yes very very fortunate it was caught early! There is always a positive.

I hope everyone enjoys their Xmas Eve with all my best wishes for each and every one in here.

  • Well reality is setting in now. I was able to forget about everything over last couple of days and it felt good but now have to face what's coming. I have to go into hospital for a blood test tomorrow and have the tag put in on 31st - lovely (New Years eve).
My son is getting bored as he loves coming home to shop at Oxford street and just go to central London as he misses it but not possible. I wonder if the shops will even open at all next month. Those poor people who own businesses and workers. Tough times for all. Better to be safe - new strains will keep appearing- hope this nightmare gets under control soon. So many people effected in so many different ways.

Its pouring down and miserable - suits my mood. Having psych appointments but they are normally at 2 pm once a week and she is trying so hard to stifle her yawns when doing my sessions virtually. I've been called many things but never boring.....

  • Hi Sandra and cancer friends.

Just quick update.      Brenda just got Brest check appointment 21st so sorting transport, she's completely incontinent now after her last TiA so taking plenty of pads and anything else I can think of got a big bag on back of wheelchair so carrying no problems.

JBains thinking about you , always to much waiting around never good .

I've got to go in hospital on 11th speak to my specialist seems funny with lockdown on but I've checked.

    Take care all.

    Love Billy xxxx

  • Hi all hope you are all taking care and staying safe and warm.  Surgery was meant to be tomorrow but now delayed due to unprecedented number of covid patients in hospital. They are securing a private hospital facility to get urgent ops done so I should know more end of week or Monday. It is what it is and it is rampant in London and southeast.
I just don't understand people - if it's a new variant with a 50-70% transmission rate - why have parties and get together???? Doesn't take many people to start a pandemic again. Very silly people.

I hope everyone is coping okay and hope this is all under control shortly.

  • Bless I'm sure like me it's always the wait that gets us. Gearing up just to cancel sucks big time. Hope you get the new op date soon.
is your family still at home?
It's definitely strange times and strange times needs to do one.

wrap up warm and look after yourself lass sending hugs ️

  • So sorry to hear about Bren Billy. Thank the stars she has you by her side. You always have her best interest at heart.
good luck for the 11th hope all news is good.,, you definitely deserve some ️

  • Afternoon peeps

Bad:- guess it's one of the same of many ... lockdown...sigh

good:- had a lovely Christmas Day with all the close family (only 7 of us lol). Boxing Day we did the usual repeat of Christmas Day food wise albeit reduced numbers ( 5 of us, I could only be there because I'm in daughters bubble).lil ones were excitable and happy.. so we were too.

lil ones are back to school because parents fall into key worker group. Bit worried because last time they didn't do any school work while there... if they were at home they would at least get home schooling (I sat with them from 9am till 3pm doing school work when they were sent home to isolate due to contact). Something wrong if it's the same no learning at school again.

hey ho... hope everyone's 2021 is as good as it can be ️

    Hi Jbains,

I'm so sorry to hear that your surgery was cancelled tomorrow, but hope that you get the private facility soon. There is no understanding some people - there are just too many inconsiderae idiots in the world.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
